What happens on a companionship visit?

A companionship visit is exactly what it sounds like: someone turns up, puts the kettle on, and gives you their full attention. Kelly sits and talks, listens properly, and helps with whatever would make the week easier, whether that is a hand with a crossword, sorting the post, a walk if the weather is kind, or a run out to the shops, a garden centre or a coffee somewhere. For people living alone, a regular visit in the diary changes the shape of a week, and families often book it precisely because a parent has stopped going out. Visits are usually one to two hours, weekly or fortnightly, at the same time each week so there is something to look forward to. Companionship is £20 per hour.
